Soaring high over the ocean with immense energy, Hallasan Mountain (1947.3m) is spectacular in winter snowy season in January when white snow-laden trees stand tall. Stepping past the clouds to reach the peak, followed by freshly grilled Jeju black pork belly over charcoal fires that warms your body, represents the pinnacle of outdoor healing.
”It is one of the three sacred mountains of Korea, the highest mountain in South Korea, and has a crater on the ridge, Baeknokdam. It is a treasure trove of alpine flora, including over 1,800 species of plants and dense natural forests. It was selected considering the fact that it was designated as a national park (1970). As the highest peak in South Korea, it is famous for Baeknokdam, Tamna Valley, Andeok Valley, Crown Tombs, Seongpanam, and Cheonjiyeon.
Currently, four hiking trails on Hallasan Mountain are permitted as legal trails. Among them, the summit section of the Eorimok and Yeongsil courses from Witse Oreum to Baeknokdam is controlled. If you want to hike to the summit, you must use the Seongpanak or Gwaneumsa courses. The Seongpanak course has a gentle slope on the east side of Hallasan Mountain and is a hiking trail that most people enjoy. There is a Saraak mineral spring along the way, but you need to prepare water. After passing the Azalea Shelter, you can see the entire view of Hallasan Mountain, and behind you, a panorama of eastern Hallasan Mountain unfolds. It also overlooks Seongsan Ilchulbong and parasitic volcanoes. Many people also use the Eorimok Valley ~ Sajevi Hill ~ Manse Garden course. The climbing time is short, so you can reach Witse Oreum in about 2 hours, and along the way, you can see Yeongsil Rock, which is an oddly shaped rock shaped like a hundred arhats. Also, the Baeknokdam crater wall seen from Witse Oreum is majestic and beautiful.
