Inheriting the grand spirit of Gyeongsang region, Gayasan Mountain (1432.6m) is an awesome destination in golden silver grass waves in the autumn breeze in October. After dominating the horizon from the summit, a satisfying bowl of hot pork soup and grilled beef patties in the bustling market alley completes this majestic climb.
”It has long been one of Korea's 12 famous mountains or eight scenic mountains, and was designated as a national park in 1972. In particular, it was selected for its high historical and cultural value, including the national treasures of the Tripitaka Koreana and Haeinsa Temple, which were designated as World Cultural Heritage sites in 1995. It is said to be the place where 'Gaya-guk' was located. In 'Taekriji', the strangely shaped rock peaks of Mt. Gayasan were compared to flames and were called Seokhwaseong (stone fire star). The view from the top of the mountain is good, and Yongmun Falls and Hongnyu-dong Valley are especially famous.
There are two courses to climb Sangwangbong, one on the Chiin-ri side and the other on the Baegun-ri side. The best combination of these is to start from Yonggi-dong in Baekun-ri, climb to Seoseongjae, climb the Namneung, and descend to Geungnakgol while viewing the two treasured stone Buddhas. If you do the opposite, you won't be able to see Haeinsa Temple properly before hiking. What you need to see in Yongyonggol is the site of Yonggisa Temple. It is located near the shelter at the top of the valley and is famous as a famous place. From Seoseongjae above Jureung, you can climb up part of Gayasan Fortress. It is worth thinking about the size of the castle and the reason why it was built by thinking about the piles of stones on the castle wall and the Dongjangdae of Yonggi-dong. From the summit pyramid, which is about 1300m above sea level, it is a rocky hill and the view is excellent. The stone Buddha of Treasure No. 264 can be seen by going down to the left a little before the shelter on the way down the mountain. No. 222 is on the left at Tosagol intersection. Both are luxury goods that should not be missed.
Daegu is the starting point. There are 40 direct buses from the Seobu Intercity Bus Stop in Daemyeong 11-dong, Daegu. Exit at Haeinsa IC on Highway 88.
