"Excellent weather conditions for climbing."
Embracing fertile plains and highly picturesque valleys, Palyeongsan Mountain (606.9m) is truly magnificent in cherry blossoms and flower petals rain down in April. Climbing past the tranquil temple courtyard leads to an immense view. A feast of Jeolla-style mountain vegetable bibimbap and freshwater crab soup afterward completes the journey.
”It was selected in consideration of the fact that it has a rugged mountainous terrain with eight rocky peaks, many strangely shaped rocks, good views, and was designated as a provincial park (1998). It is home to Neungseongsa Temple, which was once considered one of the four major temples in the Honam region along with Hwaeomsa Temple, Songgwangsa Temple, and Daeheungsa Temple. There is Sinseondae, Gangsan Falls, and a natural recreation forest. The view is so good that you can see Tsushima Island from the top.
This is the route that most hikers take. You have to go all the way to Sangbong and Gitdaebong peaks, but since the mountain is quite far away and there is even a wireless transmission tower, you just end up returning from peak 8. Deulmeori is to the left of Neopsa Temple. If you follow the new road paved with persimmon stones, a communal kitchen will appear in the pine forest. Then, as the view opens up, a wide field spreads out, and Palyeong Mountain Lodge can be seen in the distance. After passing Palyeongsanjang, there is a valley road. If it is not very dry, you can draw water from the Gaji Valley that crosses the hiking trail. The road up to Heungbawi Rock is as good as if the grass had been cleared. Peak 1 is located right above the rock. Since it is a returning peak, I am in a hurry to get to the second peak, so I try to find a way to the top. It is a flat rock at the top, so it is perfect for mountain ancestral rites. Peak 6 at the end of the long wire ladder is the highlight, so if you don't have time, descend at the intersection between peak 7. However, to see Haechang Bay in the southern sea, you have to go to Peak 8. The descent begins with climbing the mountainside to Mount Sanjang. From Mountsan, go down the valley road.
