Chukryeong Mountain (887.1m) offers a rugged yet accessible getaway near Seoul, particularly recommended during early spring in May when fresh green foliage bursts into life. Standing on the rocky crest to catch the breeze, followed by handmade tofu and pork belly wrapped in pine nuts for a nutty finish on your way down, guarantees a perfect weekend climbing experience.
”It is a dense forest of pine and pine pine trees and a cliff is formed. From the top of the mountain, you can see Unaksan Mountain, Myeongjisan Mountain, and Hwaaksan Mountain to the north, and Cheongpyeong Lake to the southeast. It was selected for its excellent views, including Chuknyeongbaekrim, one of the seven scenic spots in Gapyeong, Nami Rock, which is steeped in the legend of General Nami, and Suribawi Rock Chuknyeongbaekrim. There is a natural recreation forest.
The reason there is a course that goes up from the natural recreation forest is because Maseok is a short distance away, so transportation is easy, the unique rocky area is located on this side, and the hiking distance is shorter than on the other side. On the other hand, those who love Chukryeong Baeknim, a dense pine tree forest measuring 150 hectares, climb the mountain to Haenghyeon-ri. The hike begins from the path between the kitchen and log cabin to the right of the management office. After adjusting your appearance at the rest area in the middle of the climb and filling up the water at the spring, when you reach an altitude of 600 meters, the spectacular Suribawi Rock appears. It is a 30 meter high rock that resembles a flying eagle. After passing Nami Rock, which is carved enough for one person to sit on, the right (southeast) is the Amreung section with a cliff. It is not dangerous because the iron pole is installed and the line is attached. When the rock ridge is over, the view is good at the top.
Seat buses to Maseok leave every 5 minutes in front of Cheongnyangni Joryeong Pharmacy and from Jamsil Station Exit 7. Gyeongchun Line trains run 7 times at hourly intervals. Buses run from Maseok to Chuknyeongsan Natural Recreation Forest 10 times each. As soon as the Gyeongchun National Road passes the border between Hwado-eup and Gapyeong-gun, turn around and enter Sudong Valley to visit Chuknyeongsan Natural Recreation Forest in Naebang-ri, Sudong-myeon. If you go to Haenghyeon-ri, turn left at Cheongpyeong Checkpoint.
