Cheonmasan Mountain (810.3m) offers a rugged yet accessible getaway near Seoul, particularly recommended during late autumn when colorful fallen leaves add romantic aura. Standing on the rocky crest to catch the breeze, followed by acorn jelly salad and boiled chicken soup enjoyed on a valley deck on your way down, guarantees a perfect weekend climbing experience.
”It was selected in consideration of the unusual shape of the mountain, which has ridges stretching out in all directions around the top of the mountain, allowing the summit to be seen from any point, and the fact that it is famous as a hiking destination for plant observation due to its abundance of flora. Cheonmasan Mountain Ski Resort is located on the south side of the mountain.
It is common to start from Maseok and descend toward Pyeongnae. It starts at Cheonmasan Mind and Body Training Center in Jikdong Village. As you go up the ridge road facing northwest, there are many exposed rocks and the view is good. After climbing up to Dongneung, you can continue walking while looking at the summit thanks to the crescent-shaped valley curved like a crescent moon. A rocky ridge continues from the summit to Bukbong Peak 795. There are a lot of old pine trees, so the view, the view, and the reality are all very refreshing. It is the highlight of the Cheonma Mountain hike. The descent begins when you descend into the western valley at the narrow point between Bukbong and the summit. After tasting the famous mineral water that gushes out from under the rock (it is called Dolphin Spring, as it was refined by the Dolphin Mountaineering Club), you can follow the mountainside road to reach Cheonma’s house on the ridge. It is a month away from here to Dowonsa Temple, where the village bus runs.
There are countless buses to Maseok from Cheongnyangni. You can also use the Gyeongchun Line train that runs every hour. Use the Gyeongchun (Route 46) national road. There are Pyeongnae and Maseok interchanges on the new country road.
