Inheriting the grand spirit of Gyeongsang region, adult bong (986.5m) is an awesome destination in golden silver grass waves in the autumn breeze in October. ”It was selected in consideration of the fact that it is the highest peak of Ulleungdo, a dormant volcano, and forms the source of all rivers on Ulleungdo, and that it has a well-preserved primeval forest with unique vegetation. It is famous for the Nari Basin, the only flat land in Ulleungdo, and the primeval forest, which was designated as Natural Monument No. 189 (1967). The colony of Ulleung chrysanthemum and thyme in Nari-dong was designated as Natural Monument No. 52 (1962).
The hike begins next to Daewonsa Temple, which appears to be heading towards Sadong at the three-way intersection in front of the Ulleung-eup Office. If you look down at your feet at the Sadaegol intersection at the end of the steep slope road, you will feel like you are on an Annapurna trekking trip. From then on, the road is smooth and the view is good, just like going to the highlands of Nepal. If it is winter when you arrive at the Wind Lighthouse, you will need to rest and prepare your equipment. Due to the heavy snow and wind, you may have to take a commemorative photo of the climb and then run back down. Even so, you should stop by the Nari Basin Observatory, the only caldera-shaped area in South Korea. Maljandeung is a series of bamboo forests that span more than one road. However, when I came to ski mountaineering, it was buried in snow, so I went all the way to Nariryeong. When you pass through Cheongseokgol and reach the forest bathing area, you must see Bongrae Falls inside the valley. There are no other waterfalls pouring down volcanic rock canyons.
There are ships to Ulleungdo every day from Pohang (☎054-242-5111∼5) and Donghae (☎033-531-5891∼2), and irregularly from Hupo (☎054-787-2811∼2). Flights are canceled when a weather warning is issued, so be sure to check before leaving home. Cruise ships around the island depart from the passenger ship terminal in Dodong. There are 9 times during the peak season and 2 times during the off-season. ☎054-791-4468/7010 There are local buses departing from Dodong that go to Cheonbu via Namyang and Taeha and to Naesujeon in Jeodong and Bongrae Falls. It can only be loaded on the Sunflower ship departing from Pohang.
