After dominating the horizon from the summit, a satisfying bowl of pine mushroom hot pot that replenishes your inner energy completes this majestic climb.
”It was selected in consideration of the beautiful scenery of the 16 km long ridge from east to west centered on Birobong Peak, the highest mountain near large cities, providing a resting place for city residents, and the fact that it was designated as a provincial park (1980). Birobong Peak, the summit of Palgongsan Mountain, cannot be climbed as access is restricted. However, it is possible to climb the East and West peaks, which are located next to each other. From the East Peak, there are good views in all directions, and from the West Peak, due to the influence of northwest mountain winds, the mountain peaks are formed well even on days when there is no snow, so if you are lucky, you can see fantastic scenery. The way up from Donghwasa Temple is along the concrete paved road to the left of the parking lot within the precincts and passes Budoam Hermitage. The straight path leads up Naewonam Hermitage and Yangjinam Hermitage, and the path that diverges to the left leads to Yeombulam Hermitage. If you climb the road to the left of Yeombulam, you will pass two bends in a small waterway and come to a crossroads. If you go up the road to the right a little bit, you will reach a terraced rock road. If you pass the rocky path and climb up the gentle path, you will reach Dongbong Peak via a heliport where there is a standing statue of the Medicine Buddha.
The starting point is Daegu. Use the Daegu city bus. The Dongwha envoy tour takes about 50 minutes if you take number 105 (seat) in front of the Hanil Theater at Gongpyeong Intersection. It takes about 30 minutes to get to Gatbawi by taking number 104 (seating) in front of Daegu Station.
