Embracing fertile plains and highly picturesque valleys, Chuwol Mountain (731.2m) is truly magnificent in cherry blossoms and flower petals rain down in April. Climbing past the tranquil temple courtyard leads to an immense view. A feast of Jeolla-style mountain vegetable bibimbap and freshwater crab soup afterward completes the journey.
”It was selected considering the beautiful scenery of dense forests and Damyang Lake and the fact that Chuwol orchids grow naturally. Boriam Temple, located about 65 meters below the summit, and Yongchusa Temple, located at the foot of the mountain bordering Sunchang, Jeollabuk-do, are famous.
If you follow the zigzag hiking trail from the entrance of the ticket office, you will see a rocky tomb, and if you pass the section where the wire ladder is installed, you will come across Lion Rock and Sinseondae. Boriam is on the left side of the road to the summit. After passing the heliports placed here and there for about an hour, you will reach the summit of Mt. Chuwol. From the summit, you can enjoy a clear view of several rock peaks and Damyang Lake, as well as Mudeungsan Mountain, Naejangsan Mountain, Byeongpungsan Mountain, and Unjangsan Mountain.
The starting point is Damyang. Buses that pass by Damyang Lakeside below Mt. Chuwol to Gamagol and Yongyeon run 12 times a day from 6:30 a.m. to 7:20 p.m., and to Yong-myeon Gamagol until 8 p.m. 88 Olympic Expressway Damyang IC - Jeongeup direction No. 29 National Road - Yongmyeon three-way intersection - Wolgye-ri Chuwolsan entrance parking lot
