Chuwol Mountain Weather

[Mountain with beautiful fall foliage] Chuwolsan Mountain, so named because its peak is so high that it touches the full moon in the fall, is as if Woraksan Mountain in North Chungcheong Province was relocated to Damyang. It has a spectacular view of strangely shaped cliffs, and the sight of Boriam Rock, which seems to hang precariously on the edge of the cliff, makes your heart sink just by looking at it. The founder or date of Boriam is not clear, but according to legend, Boriam on Mt. Chuwol is where one of the three birds carved from wood by State Preceptor Jinul of Jiri Mountain flew in and sat down. It is also the place where Lady Heungyang Lee, the wife of General Kim Deok-ryeong, who died during the Japanese invasions of Korea, died by throwing herself off the cliff of Boriam while being chased by Japanese soldiers. As you can see from the name of the place, autumn is the most beautiful when the entire mountain turns red due to the abundance of maple trees, and the blue waves of Damyang Lake seen below while climbing the mountain pierce the hearts of those who see it. There are hiking trails starting from Wolgye-ri, Miljae, and Ssangtae-ri, and any course takes about 3 hours. Among these, the course that goes from Wolgye-ri to Boriam, climbs to the summit, then turns toward the cave shelter and returns to Wolgye-ri is the most popular.
