It was named Mijisan as the fourth highest mountain in Gyeonggi-do, and when Lee Taejo, who founded Joseon, ascended to the throne, There is a legend that the name was changed to ‘Yongmunsan Mountain.’
The hike begins at the commercial village in front of Yongmunsa Temple, which was designated as a national tourist site in 1982. When you reach the temple, the first thing that catches your eye is the ginkgo tree. It is a huge tree with a height of 60m and a chest circumference of 14m, harvesting 15 bags of ginkgo every year. If you do it well, you can enjoy all the views except the west from the rock peak above the stone gate leading to the summit. When you cross the slope under the stone gate and reach Munryejae, you descend into Wonbaugol in the north-northwest. The Elephant flower field is right there. If you follow the Eobi Valley, you will reach Gailri, where Yumyeongsan Natural Recreation Forest is located.
