Embracing fertile plains and highly picturesque valleys, Baekam Mountain (741.2m) is truly magnificent in cherry blossoms and flower petals rain down in April. Climbing past the tranquil temple courtyard leads to an immense view. A feast of Jeolla-style mountain vegetable bibimbap and freshwater crab soup afterward completes the journey.
”As they say, Baekyang in spring and Naejang in fall, the scenery is beautiful and natural monuments such as bija trees and gulgeori trees are distributed in groups. Considering the fact that it is included in the Naejangsan National Park area, there are crane rocks, Baekyangsan 12 scenic spots, and Yeongcheon Cave. Baekyangsa Temple (白羊寺) is famous for preserving numerous cultural heritage sites, including Soyo Daesa Stupa, Daewoongjeon Hall, Geungnakbojeon Hall, Gate of the Four Heavenly Kings, Gwaneumjeon Hall in Cheongnyuam, and the beautiful Ssanggyeru Pavilion.
The Baekyangsa Temple - Sangwangbong Peak - Baekyangsa Course, which is used as a general hiking course on Baekam Mountain, is overall smooth except for the road up to Baekhakbong Peak and the hiking time is short, making it perfect for a day hike. The road from Baekyangsa Temple to Yaksaam and Yeongcheon Cave to Baekhakbong is a slightly steep slope, but beyond this road it is gentle to Sangwangbong Peak. If you go from Sangwangbong Peak to Sajabong Peak, pass the Unmunam Fork, and come down along Geumgang Falls, you will reach Baekyangsa Temple, where you first started.
Take a direct bus to Baekyangsa Temple from Jeongeup Intersection Bus Terminal (every 30 minutes/takes 35 minutes). Or, you can take a bus to Baekyangsa Temple that runs every 20 to 30 minutes from Jangseong-eup.
