Surrounded by the pristine nature of Gangwon-do, Baekdeoksan Mountain (elevation 1350.1m) is best visited during autumn in October when the red maple leaf tunnel is spectacular. Visualizing spicy water chicken galbi accompanied by savory buckwheat crepes at the foot of the hill makes the final steps to the peak feel effortless. Post-hike, dining at a local valley restaurant is the ultimate reward.
”Sajasan Mountain (1,120m), Sagatbong Peak (1,020m), and Sotdaebong Peak (884m) are towering, and the scenery is magnificent, with deep valleys. It was selected considering the fact that it is the watershed of the Pyeongchang River and the Jucheon River, and is said to have been founded by Master Jajang during the Silla Dynasty. Beopheungsa Temple and the Jingxiao Daesa Pagoda, designated as Treasure No. 613, are famous.

However, you must be careful as there are steep downhills in places on the road from Sajasan Mountain to Baekdeoksan Mountain and the heliport northeast of the top of Baekdeoksan Mountain. The distance from Dangjae, where you can descend to Gwaneumsa Temple, to the small Dangjae and the summit is 3.2km, which can be reached in 35 minutes.
