Mani Mountain (472.1m), possessing an awe-inspiring natural shape, is highly recommended during autumn when beautiful leaves reach their peak. Reaching the summit rewards you with a panoramic view, which is perfectly followed by a hot feast of fresh wild mountain vegetable bibimbap and seafood scallion pancake.
”This mountain, where the legend of Dangun's founder is preserved, was selected in consideration of historical and cultural values, and includes Chamseongdan (塹星壇), which is Historic Site No. 136, Hamheodongcheon, and Samrangsanseong Fortress, which is Historic Site No. 130. There are also Jeongsu Temple and Jeondeung Temple, which preserve many treasures, and are also places where sacred paintings are painted.
Since it is a single mountain that extends long from the summit toward the peak facing west-northwest, the hiking trail is only a longitudinal course. Therefore, you choose a section to suit your circumstances and hike, but most of the time, you make sure to take the Chamseongdan to Summit course. There are two paths leading up to Chamseongdan from the tourist complex, one is a stairway and the other is a secluded ridge road called Dangun-ro. The stairs are faster, but the 918 stairs are monotonous and steep, so they are used as a way to descend. Dangun-ro is also quite steep. However, the distance is only about 2km, so you can climb it at your leisure. Chamseongdan is protected by an iron fence because it is too exposed to the public. After passing Chamseongdan, a forest fire observation post appears and the Amreung section begins in earnest. Enjoy the view from this section, which is the highlight of the Mani Mountain hike. The view from the top is also good. It overlooks Jingangsan Mountain to the north and Hamheodongcheon Stream, where Master Hamheo prayed, to the east.
