Embracing fertile plains and highly picturesque valleys, Duryun Mountain (700m) is truly magnificent in cherry blossoms and flower petals rain down in April. Climbing past the tranquil temple courtyard leads to an immense view. A feast of Jeolla-style mountain vegetable bibimbap and freshwater crab soup afterward completes the journey.
”It is a mountain rising on the Haenam Peninsula, the southernmost part of the Korean peninsula, and is home to Yoshino cherry trees. It is suitable for viewing the Dadohae Sea and was selected for its designation as a provincial park (1972). It is famous for its spring foliage in spring, greenery in summer, maple leaves in fall, and camellia in winter, and is known as a producing area for citron and tea. There is Daeheungsa Temple, which preserves many cultural assets, including the Three-story Stone Pagoda, Treasure No. 320.
This is a course that sees Daeheungsa Temple in the snow of the mountain, passes through the summit, and comes down to the collective facility district. Since the descent takes the road next to the cable car, if there are elderly or infirm members of your group, you can take them down. The road from Daeheungdunsa Temple to Iljiam Hermitage is generally gentle. At Iljiam, you can taste Yucheon Mineral Water. This is the spring water that Master Da-seong (茶聖) used for tea. As soon as you leave Iljiam, you will be greeted by a camellia forest. By the time you leave the forest, you will reach Manamteo, where there is a thousand-year tree where the legend of Cheondong and Cheonnyeo is told. However, it is unlikely that he lived to be a thousand years old. If you climb up to Ifjae, you will see a field of silver grass. The famous natural cloud bridge located beyond the summit of Duryunbong Peak can be reached in 20 minutes round trip. The summit, Gayeonbong Peak, and Noseungbong Peak next to it are made of rock, so the view is good.
The starting point is Haenam, where local buses to Daedunsa Temple run every 30 minutes. Express buses to Haenam run every 40 minutes from Dong Seoul Terminal and 7 times from Gangnam Terminal.
