Inheriting the grand spirit of Gyeongsang region, Geumjeongsan Mountain (800.8m) is an awesome destination in golden silver grass waves in the autumn breeze in October. After dominating the horizon from the summit, a satisfying bowl of hot pork soup and grilled beef patties in the bustling market alley completes this majestic climb.
”It was selected in consideration of the fact that it is a resting place for citizens located close to the city center with dense forests, a relatively majestic mountain landscape, etc. It is home to Beomeosa Temple, a patriotic temple, as a patriotic mountain that historically protects the country, and Geumjeongsanseong Fortress, one of the 5 major mountain fortresses in Korea. It forms the watershed of Nakdong River tributaries and Suyeong River, and includes Geumgang Park and Seongjigok Park.
The hiking trails of Geumjeongsan Mountain are evenly divided on both sides of the main ridge from the south gate to Godangbong Peak in the north. The starting points for hiking include Geumgang Park and Mandeok Pass in the south, Beomeosa Temple and Oesong in the north, Hopo in the west, and Dusil in the east. Among them, Beomeosa Temple and Geumgang Park are the most used. The main ridge course at both ends is 15 kilometers long and takes about 5 hours. There are springs at appropriate intervals along the way, so there is no need to worry about water. You can take a bus straight from Dongrae Hot Springs to Dongmun Sanseong Pass, or take a cable car from Geumgang Park to the 2nd Watchtower to start your hike.
The starting point is Busan subway station. To get to Beomeosa Temple, take exit 5 of Beomeosa Station and take bus number 90 from the Samsin Transportation terminal, which is a 5-minute walk. To get to Geumgang Park, which is 15 minutes away from Oncheonjang Station, take bus No. 8 or Sanseong Bus No. 203.
