”It is the only mountain park in Hallyeohaesang National Park and was selected for its beautiful scenery, views of the sea, islands, and sunrise, and the fact that it was designated as a Gyeongsangnam-do monument (1974). It was originally called Bogwangsan Mountain, but the name was changed to Geumsan according to a legend related to King Taejo of the Joseon Dynasty. It is famous for its 38 scenic views, including the Lee Clan Foundation where King Taejo of the Joseon Dynasty prayed, Sajaam Rock, Chokdaebong Peak, and Hyangnobong Peak, and at the top is Boriam Rock, one of the three major prayer places in Korea.
There are two hiking trails in Geumsan Mountain. There is a road from the Geumsan Management Office in Sangju-ri to the summit through Ssanghongmun and Boriam, and a road from Bokgok on the north side of Geumsan along the dirt road through Boriam to the summit. The starting point of the Sangju-ri course is the ticket office in front of the innchon, 3km north of Sangju Beach. There is no place where the road diverges from here to Ssanghongmun, but from Ssanghongmun, the hiking trails diverge into several paths, all of which connect famous attractions near the summit, so there is no need to worry too much. If you go straight up to Boriam and stand at the three-story stone pagoda in front of Boriam, you can see the famous attractions of Geumsan at a glance, so it is a good idea to go hiking after looking around. Sangsangbawi Rock and Busoam Rock are spread out to the west of Mangwoldae, the summit. Sangju Beach and the islands of the South Sea, which spread south from Boriam, are beautiful, but the scenery from Sangsa Rock is no less beautiful. Most of the descent is towards Sangju-ri.
