Inheriting the grand spirit of Gyeongsang region, Hwangaksan Mountain (1111.4m) is an awesome destination in rhododendrons dye the peak pastel pink in May. After dominating the horizon from the summit, a satisfying bowl of pine mushroom hot pot that replenishes your inner energy completes this majestic climb.

It is common to choose Unsu Valley and Naewon Valley to climb to the top. Unsu Valley has a gentle slope and is used for climbing, while Naewon Valley course is mainly used as a descent route. After passing Jikjisa Temple, follow the valley on your right and climb for about 10 minutes to reach the crossroads of Naewon Valley and Unsu Valley. If you take the road to the right, you will reach Unsuam Hermitage. Prepare water at Unsuam. If you take the left (west) path from the first col on the main ridge and climb up, you will reach Baekunbong Peak. It overlooks Birobong Peak (summit), Naewon Valley, Unsu Valley, and Jikjisa Temple. If you follow the ridge road for about 50 minutes, you will reach a meadow and the summit is just a stone's throw away. To descend the mountain, as soon as you get off the summit, follow the path leading to Naewon Valley on the left. The way down from Hyeongjebong Peak to Sinseonbong Peak and Mangbong Peak takes about 1 hour and 50 minutes.
The starting point is Gimcheon. Regular buses (No. 11) and seat buses (No. 111) run from Gimcheon Station to the entrance of Jikjisa every 10 minutes from 06:00 to 22:40. Takes 20 minutes.
