"Excellent weather conditions for climbing."
Inheriting the grand spirit of Gyeongsang region, Jaeyaksan (1119.1m) is an awesome destination in golden silver grass waves in the autumn breeze in October. After dominating the horizon from the summit, a satisfying bowl of hot pork soup and grilled beef patties in the bustling market alley completes this majestic climb.
”It was selected in consideration of the gentle nature of the mountain, the beautiful scenery of the huge rock wall around the summit, and Sajapyeong, the largest silver grass field in Korea. It is home to Natural Monument No. 224 Eoreumgol, where ice freezes in the heat of Sambok. Pyochungsa Temple, founded during the reign of Queen Jindeok of Silla, is famous as the place where Ambassador Seosan recruited volunteer soldiers.
This course goes around the silver grass meadow of Sajapyeong. It is the gentlest path that goes up along the Okyudongcheon Stream and there is a layered waterfall in the middle. Ferns, which were said to be the first village under the sky, are no longer there. The branch school there, which was closed in 1997, only has a church monument and all the residents have left, so there is no hope for a guest house or makgeolli. The silver grass field spreads out from the desolate landscape, but it is patchy due to the influence of human interference, and because it is on a gentle slope rather than a true flat land, it does not have the feeling of being as vast as the Shinbul Plain. Among them, the better one is between Sumibong Peak, which is called Jaeyaksan Mountain on all maps, and Sajabong Peak, which is written as Cheonhwangsan Mountain. The name Cheonhwangsan Mountain is said to have been given by Japanese people who like the Emperor, so no one uses it anymore. The descent is from the top of Sajabong Peak to the ridge that faces west and then turns southwest. You can see Geumgang Falls just below Hangye Rock.
The starting point is Miryang. A direct bus to Pyochungsa Temple runs every 30 minutes from the intercity bus terminal. To Miryang, the Gyeongbu Line KTX goes 7 times and regular trains go 26 times (based on Seoul departure). With the opening of the Daegu-Busan section of the Central Expressway in 2006, transportation became very convenient. ①Exit at Bukmiryang IC and take national road 24 toward Eonyang → take local road 1077 from Geumgok-ri. ②If the Gyeongbu Expressway is convenient, take Eonyang IC → National Road No. 24 toward Seoknamsa Temple → Local Road No. 1077 from Geumgok-ri. ③When going to Eoreumgol, turn left 1km ahead of Nammyeong-ri on National Highway 24. 4. Baenaegol is reached by taking National Road No. 69 at a sharp curve on the way up to Seoknam Tunnel and crossing Baenaegol.
