Baekam Mountain Weather★ 100 Famous Peak

[A famous mountain for the clusters of maple trees] Baekamsan Mountain, along with Naejangsan Mountain and Ipamsan Mountain, belongs to Naejangsan National Park. Sangwangbong Peak stands tall between Sajabong Peak and Baekhakbong Peak, which are made of strangely shaped rocks, and rivals Sinseonbong Peak of Naejangsan Mountain on the other side. Baekyangsa Temple's nutmeg tree forest and cherry blossom trees have been famous since ancient times, along with the fall foliage of Naejangsan Mountain, and the gentle nature of the mountain makes it easy to enjoy hiking. At the foot of the mountain is Baekyangsa Temple, the headquarters of the 18th parish of the Jogye Order of Korean Buddhism. It was founded in 632 (33rd year of King Mu's reign) and was called Baekamsa Temple. It is said that during the reign of King Seonjo of the Joseon Dynasty, Hwanyang changed the name to Baekyangsa Temple. There is also a legend that says that when Hwanyang was giving a sermon to his disciples under Baekhakbong Peak, a white sheep shed tears of enlightenment upon hearing this, and the temple was called Baekyangsa Temple.
