Inheriting the grand spirit of Gyeongsang region, Namsan (495.1m) is an awesome destination in golden silver grass waves in the autumn breeze in October. After dominating the horizon from the summit, a satisfying bowl of hot pork soup and grilled beef patties in the bustling market alley completes this majestic climb.
”It was selected in consideration of the fact that it is a treasure trove of historical relics and relics from the Silla Dynasty, including the designation of Gyeongju National Park, where 80 Buddha statues, 60 pagodas, and 110 temple sites are scattered within a mountain range that is about 8km long and 4km wide. It is famous for the rock-carved Buddha statue (Treasure No. 913) and the Chilbulam Rock Rock Buddha as the ‘Gyeongju Namsan Buddhist site.’ To the east is Namsan Mountain Fortress.
Namsan Mountain has a variety of hiking trails as the entire mountain is said to be a sacred place for Buddhism. Among these, the most visited place is the road leading up to Sangseonam Temple from Samneung. This course is a treasure trove of Silla stone Buddha statues, where you can see Buddhist statues from the Three Kingdoms period to the early Goryeo Dynasty, and you can experience cultural heritage along with hiking. You will encounter Samneung among the pine forests at the beginning, and up to Sangseonam Hermitage, there are relics everywhere. There is a ridge road with a great view from Sangseonam to Geumosan Mountain. If you go down from the top toward Gowisan Mountain for about 5 minutes, you will come across a forest road. If you go down across the forest road, you will come across the Yongjangsa Temple Site Three-story Stone Pagoda, a typical stone pagoda of the Unified Silla Dynasty that stands tall with a huge rock as its lower base. Next, we meet the rock-carved seated Buddha and Yongjangsa Temple, where Kim Si-seup stayed and wrote the Geumo myth.
